One danger is not remembering history and appreciating the sacrifices of our brave men and women in our Armed Forces. If the new administration has given any indication of its attitude toward our veterans, Obama skipped the American Legion's ball which honors the Medal of Honor veterans. This is the first time in 50 years that an incoming President has blown off these veterans.
But you can remember these veterans. A friend of mine, Brad, sent me a link to a P-51 pilot united with his aircraft of over 60 years ago.  At the end, Brad points out that you can see a formation of P51's flying in a "51" formation. Â
Of particular interest was the description of the pilot, Jim Brooks, and his last moments on the ground with his crew chief - neither knowing whether he would be coming back that day.  Â
In this Washington Post article, the news rooms of Time, Newsweek and other weekly magazines are going through more massive change.
The rival editors are turning out weeklies that are smaller, more serious, more opinionated and, though they are loath to admit it, more liberal. They are pursuing a more elite audience, in print and on the Web, abandoning the old Henry Luce notion of catering to the masses. It is nothing less than a survival strategy.
Morale in both shops has been devastated as staffers complain about a blurred identity, lack of direction, management snafus and outsourcing to big-name writers that has left them wondering if reporters still have much of a role.

Radio Host, Author and Filmmaker John Ziegler (who wrote a testimonial for my upcoming book "Citizen Soldier Handbook") shot a documentary by asking some Obama voters 12 questions. Most could not identify Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and others. But they could identify negative statements about McCain-Palin.
In addition, Ziegler commissioned a poll by Zogby International to ask the same questions. The Result? Less than 2% of Obama voters got the answers right. From the Zogby site:
Survey finds most Obama voters remembered negative coverage of McCain/Palin statements but struggled to correctly answer questions about coverage associated with Obama/Biden
UTICA, New York -- Just 2% of voters who supported Barack Obama on Election Day obtained perfect or near-perfect scores on a post election test which gauged their knowledge of statements and scandals associated with the presidential tickets during the campaign, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows.
